Østerbro is not the neighbourhood tourists mention first. It is the neighbourhood they end up choosing when they travel with children, in-laws or a pram. Quiet streets, Fælledparken around the corner, the waterfront at Svanemøllen and a metro that reaches the centre in eight minutes. Guests who book in Østerbro are not looking for bars. They are looking for space.
And space is exactly what Østerbro has. The district is built of classic apartment blocks with large flats from the early 1900s. According to Trap Danmark, 30 percent of its homes have four rooms or more. This is where Copenhagen's family flats live, and it is why the area performs better on Airbnb than most people expect.
Østerbro's guests look like Østerbro's residents. Families travelling with children who want quiet after 9 pm. Couples in their forties and fifties who would rather walk around the Lakes than queue in the Meatpacking District. They typically stay three to five nights, cook breakfast in the kitchen and leave the flat as they found it. That gives you slightly fewer bookings than the city centre, but longer stays, less wear and very few neighbour complaints.
Then there is Parken. Denmark's national stadium sits in the middle of the district, and every concert and international match fills the neighbourhood with visitors who want to stay close. In June 2026 both Zach Bryan and The Weeknd played Parken, and the autumn brings national team matches. On those nights an ordinary flat can charge far above its usual rate, if the calendar is open on the right dates.
